Today, transparency and ethics are essential factors for consumers concerned about the impact of their purchases. It is in this new way of thinking and shopping that Moyo Gems emerged as a pioneer, offering an ethical and responsible alternative in the gemstone supply chain.

Launched in 2019, the Moyo Gems project is the result of collaboration between several stakeholders, including the Tanzania Women Miners Association (TAWOMA), the Association of Women in Energy and Extractives in Kenya (AWEIK), Pact, ANZA Gems as well as gemstone suppliers Nineteen48 and Maison Piat. Moyo Gems aims to create a more transparent and fair gemstone supply chain by improving the working conditions of artisanal miners in the East African mining regions.

Since 2021, MYEL, our brand of handcrafted fine jewelry based in Montreal, has been committed to sourcing only ethical gemstones whose origin it knows. In 2024, the production team sourced beautiful Tanzanian garnets with red and raspberry hues from supplier ANZA Gems, extracted by the miners of Moyo Gems. MYEL is proud to participate in a positive initiative in the jewelry industry by offering its customers high-quality jewelry adorned with traced stones that support the development of mining communities.
